Northern Wild Rice (Zizania palustris) is a wild marsh grass that is native to the aquatic areas of the boreal forest regions of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The Ojibwa people call this plant “Manoomin”, meaning “Good Berry” and it is a sacred component of the culture. Wild rice is very nutritious, containing protein, lysine, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and dietary fiber. Deliciously substitutes brown rice! Grown in Saskatchewan.
